DO YOU HAVE TO BE SMART
TO MAKE MONEY?

Creating wealth can sound so intimidating. You may think you need to be really smart to be able to figure out how to go about it. You probably measure someone's financial intelligence by how much money they make. The more they have, the smarter they must be, right?

What's interesting is that it isn't how much money you make, but how much money you keep and what that money does for you that makes you financially intelligent. There's a huge difference!

Most people that work long hours and make a lot of money usually have bigger bills to pay.

It's a never-ending cycle; work hard, buy bigger and better things, work even harder to pay for the bigger and better things, and on it goes... The only thing this type of money-making buys you is more debt and less freedom!

Most of us have just taken our parent's ideas about money and money management, and passed those ideas down to our children. But if we're still struggling financially and have little or no time for ourselves or our family, maybe those habits we learned from our parents aren't really working out all that well!

If we teach our children how they can create wealth by having money work for them instead of them working for their money, we will be teaching our children how to be financially smart.

But we need to start with ourselves first! We can't teach our children to be financially smart if we haven't learned how to go about it ourselves.

Just look at people's faces as you walk by them, whether it be on the street or in the grocery store. The lack of joy is evident. The stress of making ends meet and providing for our families is the cause of so many illnesses.

Heart attacks and diseases develop because we don't take the time to exercise, eat right, enjoy life and relax. But how can we take the time to do all these things if all we're doing is working ourselves to death (sometimes literally)?

So, why not make it our financial goal to enjoy this gift of life we have been given?

I remember someone asking me what I thought creating wealth would bring to my life. Without hesitation I said, "the freedom to choose the things I want to do when I want to do them, without worrying about how much it's going to cost".

Wouldn't that be great? Getting up in the morning and choosing what you want to do with your day. Choosing whether you want to work or not. That's certainly not the norm. I see people all around me that don't have financial freedom. Their job controls most of their time and energy.

Make it your goal not to be one of those people!

Here are a couple of things you can implement right now that will make you and your children financially intelligent:
